May Newsletter
THE WINCHESTER CLUB MAY NEWSLETTER 2022

Well we are in to the fifth the month of the year my favourite month! The Club has had a spruce up outside which could be either because its Spring or maybe because its the Jubilee or maybe the Mayor’s visit! Anyway a BIG THANK YOU to all who have worked so hard, in particular our always cheerful CHRIS RALPH.
Another Thank You has to be to our Bar Staff. Often working short staffed due to holidays and staff sickness. Thank you to our Members who sometimes have to wait patiently to be served.
I’m sorry I have to bring the subject of Dress Code again, but could you all read the Club Rules so that you are aware of them. I also have been made aware of Bad Language in the Club!

OPEN DAY 21ST MAY 2022

Plans for the the Open Day are well in hand. So please come along and Celebrate with us the first Anniversary of the Opening of Otelli’s Kitchen. Loads of things going on! Talk to our Committee Members hopefully they will be wearing badges!
JUST ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING PLEASE DO NOT WALK ON OUR BOWLING GREEN.

BOWLS
The ‘Official’ Opening of the Green for the Bowls Centenary Season on May 1st was marred by our lovely British weather. So we had to retreat too Skittles in the Churchill Room. However it was an enjoyable afternoon, and the Mayor and her husband seemed to enjoy it as much as we did! Many events are planned throughout the Season and Newcomers are always welcome to come along any Monday Evening and have a try!

I think the very small number of Members who turned up to see Debbie C. would agree she had a fantastic voice and a great personality. What a pity she sang to an almost empty Club. Support Us Please!!!

SAD NEWS
As many of you already know Sue Adams, (the wife of our Secretary Chick) sadly passed away. Sue was a well known Bingo Player. I didn’t know Sue well, but on the few times I talked to her I thought what a lovely lady she was. From us all I would like to say how sorry we all are, and to let Chick and his son know they are in our thoughts.
FINALLY
I will finish by saying Happy Birthday to all Our May Members who are celebrating. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for brilliant sunshine on 21st May and the Jubilee Weekend. We Congratulate Mike and Fiona on their very successful 1st year with us, and wish them all the best for their next year.

Sandie.
