THE WINCHESTER CLUB NEWSLETTER JUNE 2022
It’s only a few days away! Such a Historic Occasion, after all no one has ever lived
through a Platinum Jubilee, and I doubt if anyone will in the future! So let’s all raise a glass to Her Majesty and Thank Her for 70 years of service to the Commonwealth.
It is hard to arrange things for the Jubilee Weekend, knowing that so much is going on all over the Country and we can only be in one place at a time!

So............... FRIDAY 3RD JUNE...... BARBECUE from 5pm till 7.30. Limited tickets are on sale behind the Bar @ £5. BBQ includes - Coleslaw, Chips and Corn on the Cob and a choice of 2 from the following 3: Burger, Hot Dog or Chicken. ***************************************************************************************************************************
We will be entertained by CHRIS who will amaze you with his Card Magic. Chris is always entertaining even when he’s not doing Card tricks!!***************************************************************************************************************************
Then at 8.30pm we have ‘THE HENRYS’. Brilliant Father and Son Duo, not to be missed.

Lots of Thank You’s...... Rosemary and Team for her beautiful decorations. To Chris, Jerry and Nick for their sterling feat of putting up the bunting and flags. Jerry for his lighting around the stage and his Winchester Club sign. Thank you all, great job!! **************************************************************************************************************************
OPEN DAY
Looking around on that day and listening to the laughter, I think it would be fair to say that it went well. The Bowlers and would be Bowlers had a great day. I think Rita might be seeing less of Len in the future! The sun shone, Fiona and Mike never stopped, and takings were up! Mike Wroth our Entertainer for the Evening was great. It’s such a pity so few came in the Evening. Thank you to Lisa, Gary and Al for doing a brilliant job behind the Bar. **************************************************************************************************************************
ENTERTAINMENT
11th June.....John Ramon......Singer
18th June.....Club Disco
2nd July......Sara Lee...........We have welcomed Sara before and we are glad to be welcoming her back.
News on Race Night, Skittles Evening, Summer Ball all coming up shortly. Please support our Live Entertainment, its free and we have a great dance floor. **************************************************************************************************************************
Once again I must remind you of the Club rules regarding bad language, dress code and parking! Finally Please would you use your Club Cards and transfer money from your Bank Cards to them over the Bar. So simple! Easier for our Bar Staff and better for The Club. Thank You!

Our Bar Staff need some help, Luke has gone back home to Spain! ~We knew it wouldn’t be forever, so we wish him all the best. So now we need a replacement.......so if anyone knows of anyone who would like a pat-time job that does include weekend work could you pass the details to Gary or Rob please.

In 1953 did you know that; Fish & Chips were 1/6, Stamps were 2.1/2d, Beer was 1/3 a pint, Petrol was 2/- a gallon and average wage was around £5. Life was simpler, safer, gentler and less stressful, I know because I was there!

HAVE A WONDERFUL JUNE!
Sandie.
