THE WINCHESTER CLUB
SEPTEMBER 2022 NEWSLETTER

Autumn is just about with us and I love it. The only problem is....Winter follows it. Heating bills are going to be hard for us all, and of course Our Club needs you to help pay for those enormous bills. So do come and see us more. I was very disappointed to see no-one had put anything in the suggestion box. That makes my role on the Committee even harder. The conclusion we have come to is to only have live music once a month starting in 2023. This might come in the form of music with a Buffet which of course will be ticketed and a charge will be made. All of which will be discussed at the next Committee Meeting.

The Summer Ball was a success!!! Our lovely guest duo, 2Shae were every bit as good as there were on Jubilee Weekend. So much so that I have booked them for the Valentines Evening....11th February 2023. It was good to see the Churchill Room full of happy people enjoying themselves. A special thanks to Rosemary and her team for the superb decorating. Rosemary never fails us, so if you see her tell her. Thanks also too Eileen and Rita for the raffle.
Please can you make sure you display your Car Park Ticket whilst using the Club.

BOWLS
Colin tells me that the Centenary Events and Annual Ladies Day were all very successful, which is good to hear. The outcome of the Championship Competitions Finals which were held on the 3rd and 4th of September, was Jake Young in the Mens and Linda Jacobs in the Ladies. There is one more Sunday Competition on the 18th and finally our Captain’s and President’s “Fun Day” on the 25th September.
Don’t forget the Bowls Presentation night is on Saturday the 12th of November, members welcome.

ENTERTAINMENT
Don’t forget the QUIZ every third Wednesday of the month!
Every year we host the reunion for THE BUGLES. We are after all a Garrison City and support Our Boys past and present. They come from all over, some arrive on a Friday and stay until Sunday. The band is a mixture (I believe) of past and present members. They play on Saturday morning and it is BRILLIANT. You really should come along and support them .....”High on a Hill” is hauntingly beautiful... Saturday the 8th of OCTOBER, starting approximately midday.

10th September.........ANDY KENNET...returning again...Great Elvis & more.
8th October................TRACY MARTIN.....solo singer......’The Bugles’ Weekend
29th October...............STAX OF SOUL......Local group.....Halloween Fright Night
