THE WINCHESTER CLUB
September Newsletter 2025
Welcome September, such a lovely gentle month. I always find it the month for reminiscing, we are coming into Autumn and I always think of the things I haven’t done and should have done. Being a daydreamer I can while away hours doing just that! So what has been going on in the Club…….
News from the Committee.
I will begin with arrangements for Christmas Day.
Fiona and Mike (Otelli’s Kitchen) have offered to provide Christmas Dinners for up to 48 Members. The main purpose of this offer is to allow members without families to join similar members and have some company.
To help with this concept, the Committee have agreed to the following guidelines:
…2 Sittings of 24 Members
…Tables of up to 4 Members
… No children or guests
… No large parties.
Bookings to be made directly with Fiona.
The Club Bar will be open 12-3pm for MEMBERS to have a drink.
We hope those of you who undoubtably will disagree, will understand that it is Fiona and Mike’s Christmas as well.
They have worked extremely hard for the Club and after last year’s they would like a quieter day. For those of us on our own it is an added bonus! So, remember to book early, as once the allotted number of seats have gone there will not be any concessions!!
Car Parking
When you park at the Club, PLEASE DISPLAY YOUR PARKING PERMIT. The Committee are trying to identify non-members who are using our car park!
Eileen
It was wonderful to see so many people attend Eileen’s wake.
She certainly was a character, and the Club will miss her, so Thank You to all of you that came along!
Bowls
News from Colin:
The S&D League finished the lower half of the Table, but in the “Championship League”. On Thursdays, we are Division 3 Champions!! Promotion for next year! Our Ladies also had a good season finishing in mid table in ’S&D Ladies League”. Our recent Special Friendly at Windsor Castle against the Royal Household Bowls Club, was very enjoyable, and we WON. We still have a busy month in September before the season ends.
