OCTOBER NEWSLETTER 2025
Another month closer to Christmas, so please those of you who are on your own join the rest of us for Christmas Day Dinner. Please book as early as you can to avoid disappointment. A gentle reminder that this is for Members only!
News from the Committee
Please remember that PARKING at the Club is strictly for Members.
The Race Night successfully raised £228.00 The total from Bar Sales is £343.00 so a final total of £571 which will go to The Alzheimer’s Society. We will continue to contribute and by March we might raise £1,000.00!!!
Unfortunately, Kei will be leaving us of 15th October, but on the plus side Bonny (Bonny by name and Bonny by nature) is now with us part-time!
Please look on the Board by the Main Entrance for details of the many other things that go in on in the Club such as Bingo, Quiz etc.
Bowls
News from Colin. Well, the 2025 Season is now over, ending with a well supported Closing of the Green afternoon on the 28th September. The “ Green “ is in remarkable condition at the end of the season! Thanks to greenskeeper Robin and to the regular Watering Team, Luke, Vicky, Dan and Jerry. Our Bowls Presentation Dinner Dance will be on 8th November. We hope to hold 2 or 3 Skittles Evenings during the Winter.
Entertainment
11th October……………………………The Band of the Bugles. Come along in the morning and listen as present and past members entertain us.
I know a lot of us love to hear the beautiful,
haunting, “High On A Hill”
11th October. Next we have a Trio we all enjoyed when they last came!
Then known as Vintage Sweethearts, now they are The CoverGirlz, because they cover the Decades! EVENING!
27th October…………………………….The Honky Tonk Strangers. New to us but not new to Winchester! They are a family Group who live in our City. Country and Western, so hats on and get your boots out!
1st November…………………………… Halloween Night! Should be a Great night with a tribute to Elton John with Totally Elton. So you can either be an Elton or a Dracula for the night!I
I get asked why sometimes we have two acts close together there are two reasons. It might be because the Churchill Rooms are all ready booked or maybe I have made a mistake….I am human!
Please, please tell me what you want to listen to! We have given you tributes, race nights and we are thinking of a Murder Mystery night. Karaoke has been requested but its not popular with many Saturday night regulars. Perhaps if we close off the Churchill rooms…..we will give that some thought. A Drag and Bingo Night has been suggested……anyone interested? A Charity Quiz Night with Chick? Remember to sign your suggestions as non signed ones go straight in the bin, along with un-constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is Great!!!!
A Thank You goes to, Fiona and Mike for the Summer Buffet, to Rosemary and Pete for the Decorating, Rita and Di for the raffles, Sue for helping me at the Buffet. It’s great to see Gary back, and I know he loves to talk to the members and find out how they see our Club. Finally it was so nice to see that Lovely Lady, Doreen Barfoot enjoying her 90th Birthday Party. Here’s too many more!!
