THE WINCHESTER CLUB
MARCH NEWSLETTER 2026
I wonder how many of our Members have in the past seen the Hares boxing on Barton Farm! It really was a wonderful sight. I also wonder what happened to all the other wildlife that lost their habitat.
We as a Nation are losing a lot of our heritage, which is why we need to support our Club as much as we can. The turnout for the AGM, was a disappointing number, 49 in total!
AGM
We had an eventful AGM, where 2 Members expressed their disappointment on the decision not to allow a pool table in the Churchill Room.
The Officers, were all elected because there was no contest for any of the five positions. Another Member raised their disapproval of the Chairman and Secretary being appointed and insisted that the Members were not given enough notice to nominate a replacement to
contend the position of Chairman.
The Secretary reiterated that Members were able to submit nominations from January with a closing date of 12 February 2026.
He also reiterated that he has no control over when a nominee withdraws from the Ballot, as in the case of the Chairman.
The Committee for 2026 will be as follows;
President Jack Cummings
Vice President Jean Feltham
Chairman Chris Ralph
Secretary Chick Adams
Treasurer Len Benton
Committee Members
Graham Bradshaw Vic Sara*
Fred Broomfield Richard Smith
Nathen Clarke* Matt Stewart
Sue Green Marcus Topping*
Linda Jacobs Dave Young
Sandie Murray Joe Young*
NEWS FROM THE COMMITTEE.
As most of you will already know…..Rob Doulton resigned from his roll as Chairman. We would all like to thank him for his input to the Club over his time as Chairman. Rob now wants to go travelling and
when I asked him where was he off to first, his answer was Cornwall.
Brilliant choice, beautiful County! I suggested he sent us a Card from each of his destinations….I wonder if he will!!! We wish him all the best and many safe journeys.
The Gents toilets are almost finished, then a date for the refurbishment of the Ladies toilets will be made available. Sorry Ladies, you will be able to use the Disabled toilet or if you are able to climb the stairs then there is a toilet upstairs! It won’t take long!!
Good News!! Fiona will be doing light meals such as soups and sandwiches on Monday and Tuesdays. We of course are overjoyed to
see her back, fingers crossed that Mike will be back at a later date.
BOWLS
Unfortunately Colin is still not feeling brilliant. I am sure that as soon as he is, I will be able to give you more news.
DARTS
As most of you will have noticed, the Dart Board had to be moved due to safety issues. Within the next week or two a rail and some curtain will be installed to cover it when not in use.
MARKET BAR
The Market Bar is now too small! The only solution would be to close the folding doors but only at certain times. unfortunately the present
folding doors are dangerous. We will be looking at the prices of Folding Walls. Please be patient!!!!

Before I go any further I have a plea to make…..while talking to a Member, he mentioned that we needed more events. I mentioned the fact that over the years I have asked (in the Newsletters) you to tell me
what you want! What sort of music you would like, do you want more
Racenights, more Quizes, a Board Game Night, Comedy(in the pipeline) drag bingo, Themed Music Nights. His answer to that was “I never read the Newsletters, why don’t you put it on the TV screen?”
To which I answered “It is on the TV screen.” So PLEASE, PLEASE, give me some ideas!!!
