APRIL 2026 NEWSLETTER
HAPPY EASTER to All our Members and Staff! Have a joyous Easter, and don’t eat too many hot cross buns and Easter Eggs!!
News from the Committee.
Firstly, I will start by Welcoming our new member of Staff… Charlie, we hope he will be with us for a long time. He knows his way around a bar that’s for sure!
As you all probably know Mike and Fiona have reluctantly given up catering for the unseeable future. We wish them well and thank them for all their hard work and wonderful food they have provided for us. You will however see them around the Club as they are of course Members.
Replacing them is going to be difficult! In the meantime we are trying out Fish and Chips on an event night. So, you can book and pay in advance, up to two days before an event. This is starting this Saturday 4th April. If anyone has any other sensible suggestions please let us know.
The renovations for the Ladies Toilets has run to problems! It is an old building and was built in the 1840’s. So a leak which has been around not quite that long, but long enough to require drying out. I’m afraid Ladies it’s either upstairs or in the disabled toilet still. Sorry!!
Donations to Charity. The total money collected from raffles during 2025 was £2,300 of which 25% £570.00 plus a collection tin £80 was donated to The Alzheimer's Society. Just a reminder that our chosen charity this year is Hampshire Search and Rescue. Many thanks to all that have contributed.
Guests.
Please, please make a mental note of this. As you know we are a Private Members Club, so Members only. However, we do allow each Member to bring in TWO guests. Those two guests can only be admitted twice in one month. We charge £2 for each guest. If the Member wishes to leave the Club he must take his guests with him. Members must fill in the Guest Book properly……..Thank You!
With new Members on the Committee, we have had a slight change in Members Rolls. Richard is now in Charge of Bar matters, Sue is Fire and First Aid, Vicki is Bowls Secretary. Everyone else remains as they were!
Gary is still Steward. Donna is the Bar Manager, Bonnie, Mawgan and Charlie are our Bar Staff.
Sheets will soon be available for the Summer Draw, organised by Lin and Dave. Richard and Matt are organising a sweepstake for the Grand National.
Bowls.
The Green will reopen on the 12th April. All welcome to come and try on a Monday from 5.30pm. Unfortunately Colin is still not well enough to join in, we all wish him well and hope to see him soon.
Skittles
The Bowlers organised a Skittle evening on the 27th March, which was well attended and good fun. Unfortunately the Ladies were robbed, say no more!! Val won for the Ladies!!!! Many thanks to The Young Boys (including the Old One) and for Carol and Mike Asher, for managing to organise a very noisy crowd!!
Entertainment
It is a difficult scenario for us but advertising what is on at the Club such as Facebook MUST mention the fact that we are a Members Only Club.
We are getting phone calls from non-members asking if they can come!
