MAY NEWSLETTER 2026
Well, here we are in the merry month of May, and before we know it, it will be June. So enjoy every beautiful May day, even though it might be pouring with rain!
As usual I will start with news from the Committee.

It is with sadness that we learn of the passing of our President, Jack Cummings. Over the years he has done a lot for the Club, and he will be sadly missed by his Family and Friends.

Race Night
We raised £205 from the Race Night for our Charity this year, which is Hampshire Search and Rescue. Thank you to all who attended.
Toilets
The project to update the Club toilets has now been completed. The Ladies was finished last week. We thank you for your patience during the time the works were being carried out.
Market Bar
The Market Bar and corridor to the Snooker Room have undergone a refresh of the paint work. The Committee are
very much aware that the Market Bar is far too small for its current usage. A long term strategy must be developed and discussed to come up with a realistic plan. We cannot yield to a minority group of members, but going forward we have
to make changes to cater for all Members.
Bar Staff
Welcome to Charlie Hutchings. Nice to have you with us!!
Catering
We have a new Chef, his name is Chris Pickering and the new name for the Kitchen will be:
THE CHEF’S KITCHEN
Chris will be on a three month trial and, will start food service on Monday 1st JUNE.
Snooker and Bowls
Nothing to report
Thank you to the Following.
Rosemary and Peter for their wonderful Easter Decorating.
Richard for raising money via the Sweepstake.
A special Thank You to Len, Jerry, Vic and Chrissie for all their hard work in doing a deep clean in the Kitchen.
Other Items
Please don’t forget to look on the Board in the Lounge Bar for what else is on during the Month. Including Sing for Fun on Thursday evenings.
Entertainment
Firstly, we have increased the price of Guest entry from £2.00 to £5.00. This is only on certain Music Nights.
This year we are having a Summer Party, not a Ball as no-one seems to wear ‘Evening Attire”! So the theme will be
Summer Holiday (no bikini’s or speedo’s please.) As colourful as you like, as mad as you like! There might be a prize at the end!!!! The Jay’s will be playing for us, so we know it will be a fun evening. Remember only two guests per Member.

Saturday 11th July………….Phoenix
Friday 28th Aug………….TBC
