NEWSLETTER JUNE 2026
Well, here we are half way through the year! In a couple of weeks, it will be the longest day. It doesn’t feel right somehow, that just when it’s summer the nights will start to draw in. So I think that the old saying ‘Make hay while the sunshines’ is very true. If you don’t know what it means, look it up!
News from the Committee.
Firstly, Welcome to Chris our new Chef. His very able assistant is our Fiona! The Chef’s Kitchen will open as from 1st June on a three month trial.
Chris is planning to start Sunday Lunches on 14th June, please remember that it’s for members and a maximum of 2 guests. We hope you will support this venture to make this a success for both the Club and Chris. I had a look at the menu and I was very impressed. Now, what is that other old saying….The proof of the pudding is in the eating!
Price Increase.
We have been advised by our Stock Taker that he recommends a price increase of 10p on all draught beers and 20p on Chocolate.
Football Prediction Competition.
Thank You to Richard Smith (Committee Member) for organising the above. £200 was raised for Hampshire Search and Rescue, our chosen charity for this year.
Ladies Toilets
The vanity unit was not part of the refurbishment but will be dealt with. The skirting boards could not be replaced without retiling the walls.
The Big Board
Everything that is going on in the Club, is on the Big Board in the Lounge Bar. Our scribe is Lin Jacobs who also organises the Big Raffles and Children’s Parties.
Can I just say something about our Committee, (not the three important ones) we lesser Mortals. We give our time freely, some of us are in full time work and on the Committee some of us have designated roles. We try to live up to what is expected of us and occasionally (because we are human) we get it wrong. So please don’t judge us unless it’s justified!
Don’t forget to get your Summer Draw Tickets.
Entertainment.
Saturday 13th June…….The Jay’s……Our Summer Party
Make sure your phones are charged!!!! Remember the Theme is Summer. So dark colours are out…..unless you have nothing else to wear of course! Bright, Funny, Mad, Crazy. Make it a night to remember. Tickets for the Buffet are £12.50 for Members and £17.50 for Guests. Please sign in your Guests and remember they must leave when or before you leave…

Friday 28th August…….still TBC
Saturday 19th Sept……….Covergirls…always good.
Sadly, Linda Messingham lost her battle with a brain tumour. Lin had been a member for many years and a lot of you will know her from Bingo, Tea Dances, Quiz Nights and Music Nights. Lin and Don were brilliant dancers and it was a pleasure to watch them. Our Condolences go to Don, daughters Lara and Debby and all the Family.
