Wow! What a scorcher!! Apparently it’s not over yet…..Anyway, I hope you are all coping and drinking plenty of water.

Many of you knew Bobby (he lived in the flat upstairs) but for those who didn't he slipped off this mortal coil recently. He was a bit like Marmite!!!! I personally had a lot of time for him, although I often had to tell him off about his language. He was a staunch Cornish man. Didn't have a lot of time for many people, places and things! I like many others enjoyed his tales often of his very colourful past. He was very extremely read. A lot of the Market Bar could tell you a lot of story's about Bobby. Rob Doulton knew him better than anyone. We are having a get together on Sunday 19th July between 12 and 4pm in the Market Bar to celebrate Bobby's life.

News from the Committee.
We have been looking at bar stools and tables for the Market Bar and expect to go ahead with a purchase within the next couple of weeks. The Lounge carpet is going to be cleaned on 23rd July. So the Lounge Bar will be closed. The Churchill Room will be available if you wish to use it. The lights above the mirror in the Ladies will be looked at when Chris returns.
He has had his knee operation and is doing well. Everyone who has had a knee operation will know just how painful recovery is! Get well soon Chris!!!! The Meat Draw will be temporarily suspended due to a health and hygiene issue.

The Summer Party went down well. Our Chef provided us with a lovely selection for the Buffet. The Jay’s, as usual were brilliant. Gary and I still have to go through the photographs. I would appreciate it if anyone who has any good photos would let us see them or send us copies!
I had my first Sunday Roast, and I can recommend it. So come along and try Chef’s Roast. Don’t forget to book! On the subject of Booking. We have changed the rules to allow for large family bookings. In future the maximum is ten for a sitting, and of course it must be booked in advance. When the Member leaves the guests must also leave!
Entertainment Jolene the Medium (not a Club do) was interesting and spoke to quite a few Club Members. Apparently, there is going to be an engagement and a baby in The Young Family! I had better add that its not Bonnie…..or I will be in trouble!!!
Unfortunately, Phoenix were unable to play on the 11th I don’t expect that many members would have attended the Club because of the Football. So, it was decided not to get a replacement. We will however be having an Act for Saturday 25th July, I just have to finalise with the Agency.
