AUGUST 2026 NEWSLETTER
This month I am going to start with Bowls, just for a change!
On Sunday the Club was privileged to host the first DENNIS CANNON bowls trophy.
A lovely day, very well supported. The Trophy was presented by Lisa, Dens daughter to our own Victoria Sara and Luke Young. Well done to you both and all that participated in the Day. I have no doubt that Den was looking down enjoying every second!!
News from the Committee
Election of President
In the past the position of President has been nominated by the Committee and endorsed by the Members and elected at the AGM. It is not expected to elect a new President until the 2027 AGM. Members are allowed to propose and second their own nomination. This may then require a ballot at the AGM to elect the member with the most votes to be President.
Nomination forms will be made available in January.
Meat Draw.
The meat draw has restarted. The meat will be labelled as to what meat it is and a use by date.
Comments/Suggestions
Recently the Committee has received some critical comments as to how the Club is being run and also raising concerns on the prices being charged for The Chef’s Kitchen. Unfortunately the member(s) could not be identified.
Members are reminded that all comments/suggestions must be signed and the Members Club Card included. Otherwise the comments/suggestions will be ignored by the Committee.
Market Bar
New furniture for the Market Bar has been ordered, and we expect it to be delivered by mid-October.
Please, please remember to sign in and pay for your guest. It is not the Bar Staff’s job to check who is with you its yours.
Please remember to check the board/tv for forthcoming events.
Big thank you once again to our wonderful bar staff and Gary of course. Also big thanks to Rosemary and Pete for the decorating!

If anyone is interested in a Murder Mystery Evening with maybe a basket meal would you please let me know asap please. so that I can decide if it’s worth giving it a try. Maximum of 40! sandra.arundell@icloud.com.
