MAY 2025 NEWSLETTER
I must start with an apology from me! My faithful old laptop has decided that some parts of its amazing body has had enough (a bit like mine) hence the lateness of this Newsletter. By the way I didn’t mean that I had an amazing body!!
Well, the beautiful month of May is now with us, all we need now is sunny days and rain overnight and all would be well for nature!! I hope you all enjoyed the V.E. Day celebrations over the weekend and are ready to join in ours this coming Saturday. Don’t forget to book with Fiona if you want a Wartime themed meal and of course if you can please dress or at least give a nod to what wartime fashion was! PLEASE, join in the singing, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know all the words or you sing out of tune…..just join in to Celebrate!!!! Some of us, like myself, will have lost family members or very close friends who will never be forgotten, so at some stage during the evening please raise a glass to their Memory. Thank you!
BOWLS
In May there are two all day Club Competitions Sunday 4th and Sunday 18th.
On Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th we have a two day “Bowls Bash”! A Bowls England “Promotion” event to encourage “Newcomers” of any age to try Bowls.
Reminder…that our Bowls practice evening is every Monday 5pm onwards for a couple of hours. Newcomers welcome!
Please don’t forget to look on the TV screens and on the Board for anything else of interest.
ENTERTAINMENT
Last month I asked if anyone had any suggestions/requests regarding Entertainment. As usual I didn’t get any response! So if I get it wrong……!!!
Entertainers on the whole do 2x45 minute slots. If we are lucky and we give them a good welcome they might go over their time. The regular acts such as The Jays and Ant and Dave (now known as Davante….) usually do, because they like us !!! Start time will always be 8.30pm. Please remember,
Guests must be signed in, and only 2 per member, at £2 per guest. Music evenings it is £5 per guest.

Thanks also to Gary, Donna and Nathen who were on duty for George King’s Party. Along with help from Committee members, Dave Young, Dan Whitfield, Chris Ralph and Richard Smith

Our deepest sympathy goes to Glenys and family of longtime Member
Andy Gray who we sadly lost last month. I will miss our little musical chats!
